A Billie Eilish Review
The artwork for the album |
Rating:★★★★★ (4)
My first encounter of Billie Eilish was her reacting to an interview of herself a year ago. The YouTube video was a very emotionally charged video and it hit me right in the feels. From there on, I have seen Billie mentioned various places across the internet and therefore I was intrigued by the hype of this 17-year-old girl so I decided to check out her debut album.
I was a bit hesitant to listen to Billie's album as a few years ago, this would be completely against my musical taste. However, I went into the album with a completely fresh mind and was ready to hear what this teen sensation had to offer.
From the offset, I was impressed with this album. Bad Guy, Xanny and See Me With a Crown are some of my favorite songs on the album. Bad Guy feeds into the goth image that Billie has managed to achieve and her rebellious nature, a far-flung change from when I was 17 and the worse I could do was sneak a few cans with my mates. Xanny is a song which instantly put me in my feels and for anyone to do this on their debut album, will elicit a lot of praise from me. See Me With a Crown is on the Fifa 19 soundtrack and so there was an instant connection with me to the song. A highlight in this is the absolute balls and punk nature of a youngster in their debut.

The three last songs on the album (listen before I go, I love you and goodbye) all immediately put me in my feels- slowly becoming one of my catchphrases this blog. The songs all mix good writing with catchy beats that make them instantly rememberable in my honest opinion.
Overall, I really enjoyed this album and it didn't drag at all which is especially good for a 14 song album albeit not an overly long one. Billie is a fantastic songwriter and the relationship with her brother who produces her songs is a potential gold mine for this family. If all stays well, Billie will have one of the illustrious careers and will go on to big things. As long as she never touches children (sorry MJ fans, we all know he did it) then all will be very well for this extremely talented 17-year-old. Lewd and insensitive jokes aside, I rate this album 4 stars as to the aforementioned points. There are only a few negatives such as some songs duds amongst others.
And that is what Jenka has to say, goodbye!!!
A massive RIP to Her's who were tragically lost over in the US. My condolences for their family and fans all over the world. You would have achieved great things but we are lucky to be left with some of your art behind with us.
